Mr Bennett

UX designer

A Bachelor of Arts Degree in Design. I have 15 years' experience in design and digital marketing. My experiences in my career have led me to UX/UI design, which is where I found my passion. What I love about UX/UI design is the many different processes that can be used that affect the overall final deliverable. When these processes are implemented, the website, app, etc. will feel more rounded and provide the very best solution for both the user and the client. Every part of the project can be explained and justified rather than just jumping into design to make it "look cool".
I consider my strengths to be in strategy and design but I'm able to dabble in research to find solutions to challenges as well. An extremely warm, resilient and enthusiastic person with a strong problem-solving mentality. My freelance activities involve scoping and quoting for new contracts, delivery of web projects, and project management.

What do I love doing:
I love to create and design products while trying to follow the latest trends. I love to push myself to design beautiful user interfaces that have a purpose.

Why am I different?

What I try to do is use my skills from other roles to something different whether it's incorporating motion design, illustration or 3D modelling in my prototypes.

What is your background?
I have a background in art and design and I feel my journey has involved aspects of UX/UI design throughout my career without me knowing it in the beginning.

I began in art and design (drawing and painting) achieving an A distinction during my school days. Through collage I covered print, branding, typography, 3D animation and digital modelling. Taking these skill into university I covered the overall aspects of design, 3D modelling and animation as I aspirated to be a computer games artist.

After exiting university I found getting into the games industry extremely competitive. So I decided to build my graphic/web design skills doing part time freelance work for local start-ups. This gave me the platform to be build my experience while working for Yell.com, e-Comet and currently Accident Advice Helpline.

During my present employment I had the chance to do UX/UI redesigns for websites owned by the business. This gave me the taste for it and through training and freelance work my enjoyment and passion for this skill has grown.

What do you want in your next role:
It's important to me to be ambitious and not hold back my potential. In my next role I would love to be more involved throughout the UX/UI design process. I would like to see the websites and apps improve because of the team work done prior. Also I would like my voice to be heard and to make a difference.

A little more about my life:
I'm a family man with one daughter Erykah. I enjoy the little things in life. I love a challenge, like learning to do Erykah’s hair. I come from a big family which consists of 11. My parents were originally from Jamaca, which meant I spent most of my childhood holidays in the Caribbean.
